2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Management Change Comes After Mixed Response
Brinkman assumes the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' disappointing initial reveal last autumn.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer updated team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had revealed the necessity for a more defined vision.
Ismailer expressed that the team is now refining Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to better meet community desires.
Trend of Key Acquisitions
This announcement echoes a comparable action taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.
Here is the complete message from Ismailer's memo:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your gathering - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Last time I sent you all a message, I mentioned the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative developers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to continue.”
With your dedication and flexibility, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game playtest was informative. It validated the promise of a action-packed game but made clear we still had work to do. It revealed the need for a clearer identity.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the criticism to consideration and overhauled Project ETHOS with a renewed direction - one that’s ready to achieve its promise to our audience.
The belief in this project increases every day. To boost the outstanding advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce Ben Brinkman as the latest Lead of 31st Union. After a period of discussions, he officially joins us on the specified date.
His leadership and background in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having dedicated the recent years creating and leading some of the most recognizable series in gaming, including the acclaimed shooter, and more recently, the battle royale hit.
Let’s together in welcoming him in the coming days. We are all looking forward to persist seeing the progress of Project ETHOS in the time to come.
The President

Title Details and Concept
The upcoming game was revealed in last year alongside a public demo. Then, the developers described the game as a "no-cost, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an exciting evolution on the genre."
"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in real-time to match your preferred approach," the description states. "Challenge the rivals with new abilities, stakes, and challenges that evolve every session. Do you leave securely with your collected items? Alternatively take a risk, gamble everything, and hope your group can earn top ranking? The choice is up to you."
The game lacks an announced launch window or consoles, but fans can expect further news as production continues.
