The star has handed over the complete sum of his £25,000 Mercury Prize winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to preserve the UK's small music venues.
The star was presented with the award on mid-October as his latest record his work was named the best record of the past year.
Fender has chosen to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots had in his early career.
"I would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the shows I performed around the North East, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," stated Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are struggling."
From early 2023 onward, at least 150 of these locations have shut down – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.
In the last year, top acts such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which goes to help smaller concert halls.
Sam Fender also took part, generating in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help numerous small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.
The money helped venues that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues stemming from flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.
Other venues obtained monetary aid in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that helped performers and concertgoers.
"The idea that money from performances in major spaces backs the local stages, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just logical," the star has said.
Fender is not the first artist to donate his award funds to worthy causes.
In Pulp won the prize in the mid-90s for their album their work, frontman Cocker announced that the act would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.
During 2002, artist Ms Dynamite divided her bounty across a few charities, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell organization.
"And I donated a grand to my local community centre, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they required new equipment," she told the media.
Two years ago, the band donated their funds to the local youth club that supported their group, as well as other local music groups.
And the 1994 recipients M People contributed their award to a MS organization after a close contact was identified with the illness.
"The victory was ample," stated singer the singer. "The cash was the cherry on top but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted another person's life."
Last week, the MVT announced it had protected a couple of local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to community ownership.
The Joiners in the city and the second in the city were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by the arts council and music fans who purchase "ownership units" in the venues.
